Product Review and Swatches: Avon Ultra Watercolor Lipgloss in Wine Shine and Water Melon Pop

Hey Everyone!!

Avon has launched a new product this month...  Avon Ultra Watercolor. It comes in 4 shades and is on discount in the January brochure. I have used this product a couple of times and I thought it was time for me to do a quick review.

So here goes...

Product Claim:

As you can see that the colours look different in each of the pictures. The swatches give in picture 2 are closer to the real colours.

Product Price: INR 399/- for 15 ml (currently discounted at INR 299/-)

My Take on the Product:

The lipgloss comes in a semi transparent, plastic tube with product print in black. I bought the shade Wine Shine, which is the darkest of all the available shades. The black print does not really show up on my tube. There is something written at the back of the tube too, but it is just impossible to make out. The product has a standard diagonal cut nozzle for dispensation and application. It has a black screw-on cap which is quite tight and there has been no leakage so far, so it is quite safe to carry it around in your purse.

The formula is comparable to most glosses that come in tubes. It is slightly sticky and tastes sweet on the tongue. It has a fairly strong fruity smell that I don't quite care for. The product glides on well and gives a sheer wash of colour, very unlike the one shown in the brochure. The product is not buildable to opacity. It can be worn by itself or over a matte finish lipstick of a complementary colour.

The product is most definitely moisturising, but does not last very long, 2-3 hrs at the most. The gloss fades away on eating or drinking. The pigments tend to settle in the lip lines, though very subtly, you can't make out unless you look really carefully.

Its a good product to use through the winters for its moisturising properties and is pocket friendly. The shade Wine Shine should suit most Indian skin tones. I'm not so sure about the other shades though.

Pros:
  1. Leak-proof packaging
  2. Semi-transparent tube will help identify colour.
  3. Moisturising
  4. High shine
  5. Can be worn over lipsticks.
  6. Smooth and easy application
  7. Nice sheer wash of colour
  8. Does not settle so obviously in the liplines
  9. Colour suits most Indian skin tones.
  10. Reasonably priced.
Cons:
  1. strong fruity smell can be a bit overpowering.
  2. Not too long-lasting.
Overall Verdict:  4.5/5. Great product for winters. However, has no major advantages over similar products from other brands.

Will I buy it again? Probably not.

About 2 hrs after application
